In addition to officially launching the 2026 Vacation Season, the Guanajuato State Tourism and Identity Secretary presented 100 certificates to companies and 100 certificates of training and job certification; a result of the sector’s commitment to raise the quality of tourism services in the State.

The Secretary of Tourism and Identity, Lupita Robles Leon, noted that, as instructed by the Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, work is underway to consolidate tourism as an activity that generates opportunities, strengthens employment, and contributes to improving the quality of life of Guanajuatense families.

“Today we are gathered to deliver certifications, training certificates and kick off the 2026 holiday season. Guanajuato is prepared to welcome its visitors with quality, warmth and professionalism,” said Robles.

The Secretary emphasized that these actions are part of a comprehensive tourism competitiveness strategy based on standards, distinctions, best practices, training and continuous improvement processes, with the purpose of responding to the new expectations of local, national and international tourism.

Among the recognized actions, the Mexico Host Distinction stands out, which recognizes hospitality, visitor attention, care for the environment and the ability to proudly welcome those who arrive at the State’s tourist destinations.

Also, the importance of Labor Competency Standards was highlighted, which allow people working in the tourism sector to officially accredit their knowledge and experience, strengthening their professional profile and expanding their development opportunities.

“When a traditional cook, a tour guide, a chef, a receptionist, or a waiter receives a certification, it not only strengthens the company where they work; it strengthens their professional career and their ability to grow within the tourism value chain,” said Robles.

The Secretary of Tourism and Identity highlighted that, as of May of this year, Guanajuato has received more than 8.9 million visitors, reflecting the importance of tourism as the third largest economic force in the State, after the automotive and agro-food sectors.

With the start of the 2026 Holiday Season, Guanajuato reaffirms its commitment to offer safe, competitive destinations with a wide range of tourist activities, promoting a value chain that continues to generate well-being and opportunities for Guanajuatense families.
