Conservation of Natural Protected Areas is reinforced

The Secretary of Water and Environment and Volkswagen de Mexico Silao Plant are coordinating actions for the protection of the environment

The extension of the agreement of collaboration of the Secretary of Water and Environment and Volkswagen de Mexico was signed.

The agreement aims to restore soils, degraded vegetation and water harvesting in 1,000 hectares in the Protected Natural Areas Cuenca de la Esperanza and Cuenca de la Soledad and their area of ​​influence located in the municipality of Guanajuato, Guanajuato and at Sierra de Lobos located in the municipalities of Leon and San Felipe.

Another reason was to socialize and disseminate the achievements and scope of the strategy of adopting hectares for conservation and the participation of private initiative in the processes of restoration and conservation of water-environment services in the Natural Protected Areas of Guanajuato.

Secretary Jose Lara Lona said that this agreement represents a firm step towards consolidating a public policy that places the environment at the center of our priorities, as has been the instruction of the Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo.

“Today, with this great company, Volkswagen, which we recognize for its enormous work for the environment, we are sending a firm and clear message: Guanajuato is moving towards a development model that respects and cares for nature, that recognizes its value and places it as a fundamental axis of development,” Lara Lona emphasized.

He added that the signing is not merely an administrative act, it is the reaffirmation of a shared commitment to protect, conserve and strengthen ecosystems.

Jörg Zeller, General Director of the Volkswagen plant in Silao, said that this achievement is the result of coordinated effort and shared responsibility of all those involved; the entire Volkswagen Group has clearly and firmly defined a commitment to environmental protection.

“Since the start of operations of the Volkswagen Silao plant, the company has taken on the responsibility of establishing itself as a leader in sustainability in the region, promoting high-impact environmental projects since 2012,” said Zeller.

The Director said that 14 years later, this commitment not only remains in effect, but is strengthened through the continuous incorporation of new projects and strategic alliances, reaffirming that environmental responsibility is a permanent commitment with a future focus.

“With that conviction, we will continue to support initiatives that consolidate responsible, sustainable development with a positive impact on the natural environment in the State of Guanajuato. I wish great success in the collaborations between our engine plant and the government of the people of Guanajuato, which will always be for the benefit of this beautiful State and the planet,” the Volkswagen executive emphasized.
