INEGI adjusts the numbers upwards, confirming the State’s export strength as it moves towards a more diversified economy.
Guanajuato is once again positioned as the 6th largest exporting State in Mexico in 2025

With the support of the People’s Government, Guanajuato reaffirms its leadership in international trade by the end of 2025, regaining its sixth position among the country’s exporting States, consolidating itself as a key player in the national economy.
According to figures of INEGI, Guanajuato registered exports of 37,988 million dollars in 2025. This result must be analyzed in a particular context, since the Institute itself made an upward adjustment to the 2024 figures by more than 4 billion dollars, placing the closing figure at 40,406 million dollars, which expands the comparative base and explains a more pronounced variation in statistical terms.
Despite this environment, Guanajuato manages to position itself once again as the 6th largest exporting State in Mexico, reflecting the strength of its productive ecosystem and its capacity for adaptation.
Currently, the state has:
- 1,972 exporting companies
- 83% of these companies are SMEs
- With presence in 138 countries
- This demonstrates that exporting is a real development tool for Guanajuatense families
One of the pillars promoted by Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo is economic diversification, as a strategy to strengthen the State’s competitiveness and reduce risks in the face of global changes.
Today, that vision is beginning to be reflected in the results of the sectors:
- Electrical equipment +21.2%
- Chemical industry +13.4%
- Fashion and leather/footwear with sustained growth
- Electronics and Household appliances +12.4%
- Pet sector +72.5%, one of the most dynamic
These sectors represent the new stage of export growth in Guanajuato.
The agro-food sector continues to strengthen the State’s presence in international markets:
- Peppers +32%
- Raspberries +23%
- Blueberries +24%
- Grains and oilseeds +7.9%
- Strengthening Guanajuato’s presence in global value chains
Diversification of destinations of exports is now a reality:
- Canada +56.2%
- Colombia +42.7%
- Argentina +108%
- Spain +51.5%
- Czech Republic +57.8%
- Japan +14.7%
These advances allow for expanded opportunities for Guanajuatense companies worldwide.
The export performance of 2025 is mainly driven by the dynamics of the automotive sector, particularly in transport equipment, which continues to be the main component of the exports from Guanajuato and explains most of the recorded variation.
However, the growth of emerging sectors and the diversification of markets demonstrate that Guanajuato is moving towards a more balanced, resilient and sustainable economy.
With solid results and a strategy focused on diversification, Guanajuato consolidates its leadership in exports.
