The Governor of the State, Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo, presented on the weekly broadcast of Connecting with the People a transparency platform on the security situation in Guanajuato, available for public consultation by all citizens.
From the C5i facilities in Puerto Interior, the State Governor noted that this open data platform is an unprecedented exercise in the country that brings together, in one place, the results and actions of the different institutions that make up the Operational Intelligence Group (GIO), made up of State and Federal authorities.
“It’s an unprecedented platform, a groundbreaking initiative in the country, where all the data from the different entities that make up the Operational Intelligence Group converges. We want to bring the data and tools closer to the people so that any citizen can consult what we are doing,” said the Governor.
The new digital tool draws on the work of the Operational Intelligence Group, made up of:
- The Government Secretary, the Security and Peace Secretary, the Armed Forces, the National Guard, the State and Federal prosecutors’ offices, as well as federal intelligence and security agencies.
}This group coordinates investigative, preventative, and operational actions related to security, sharing strategic information that enables arrests, seizures, and joint operations, as well as prevents crimes and strengthens the administration of justice.
The Secretary of Government, Jorge Daniel Jimenez Lona, pointed out that the permanent cooperation and coordination between security institutions, law enforcement agencies and armed forces have been key elements in strengthening the security strategy and advancing the construction of peace in Guanajuato.
The Secretary of Security and Peace, Juan Mauro Gonzalez Martinez, explained that the main basis of the new platform is trust and the exchange of information between institutions, which allows for investigation, verification of data and conversion into concrete results.
“Today in Guanajuato we have real coordination, based on trust and the exchange of information that is investigated, corroborated, and turned into results. This joint work is what is reflected in this platform today,” Gonzalez Martinez said.
The Attorney General of the State, Gerardo Vazquez Alatriste, emphasized that the systematic and methodological work among the agencies that make up the GIO has allowed the generation of intelligence products that are shared with trust and that translate into greater security for the State.
“Here there are no egos or competition between institutions; there is trust, coordination and a common goal: to restore peace to Guanajuato,” said the Governor.
Proactive transparency and open data for citizens
The platform, available at paz.guanajuato.gob.mx, allows users to easily and openly access updated information on security results, law enforcement, seizures, arrests, and prevention actions.
It also includes interactive maps, crime indicators and State and Municipal comparisons, as well as downloadable databases for journalistic, academic or citizen analysis.
“It’s an exercise in proactive transparency. We don’t just want to deliver results; we want those results to be under public scrutiny, so they can be consulted, analyzed, and compared,” the Governor said.
In addition to statistical information, the platform integrates sections on prevention, reporting culture, and digital tools so that citizens can report crimes or request support.
“In terms of security, we can never be complacent. Every achievement is a new starting point. Our only interest is that our families live in peace and that we restore peace for our sons and daughters,” said the Governor as she added that a sustained decrease in intentional homicides has been achieved over the last 11 months.
Finally, Libia Dennise invited citizens, media, academia, and the student sector to consult the platform, use it, and contribute suggestions to further strengthen this exercise in transparency.
“This page is yours and for you. Security is also built with information, trust, and citizen participation,” said the Governor.
