Love is celebrated by 150 couples at Love Fest

This mobile campaign of community marriages seeks to contribute to the regularization of the civil status of people and strengthen the legal certainty of families in Guanajuato

This event was held as part of February 14th, Valentine’s Day, at the Arco de la Calzada in Leon

“Understanding love is understanding the force that moves us every day. For all of us, love has always been a source of inspiration; it is the engine that allows us to give our best,” said Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, while leading the Love Fest Community Wedding Mobile Campaign.

Eleno Gomez, 54, and Concepcion Acevedo, 56, were one of the 150 couples who celebrated their marriage this February 14, Valentine’s Day, at the Arco de la Calzada in Leon.

“They remind us of the true love, not the kind in fairy tales, but the kind that is lived day by day, with challenges, with difficulties, with happy moments and with the blessing of the arrival of children, always united,” said the State Governor.

The happy couple, who have shared more than 35 years of life together, have formed a large family with 5 daughters and sons, 15 grandchildren and 5 great-granddaughters; this day their marriage was witnessed by Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, Governor of Guanajuato, and the Mayor of Leon, Alejandra Gutierrez Campos.

Two of Eleno and Concepción’s daughters also got married today, so the family celebration is triple. “We are very happy to formalize our union,” said the newlywed.

One of the main reasons for Eleno and Concepción to say “I do” before the Civil Registry judge was to be able to regularize procedures before the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), since without a document that proves their legal union, they could not register or insure their beneficiaries.

The “Community Marriages – Love Fest” mobile campaign is promoted by the People’s Government through the Government Secretary, in coordination with the Civil Registry, the municipal DIF Systems and the State DIF System.

The central objective of this campaign is to facilitate access to the legal act of marriage, particularly for those couples who are in a vulnerable situation, providing them with legal certainty, patrimonial protection and legal security, not only to the contracting couples, but also to their families.

In Guanajuato, the Love Fest campaign includes 150 marriages in Leon, 60 in Silao, 60 in Irapuato, 50 in Guanajuato, and 50 in Penjamo; and reaffirms the commitment of the People’s Government to legal security, social inclusion, and the strengthening of families, as pillars for building stronger communities, with greater well-being and better opportunities for everyone.
