Guanajuato strengthens security cooperation with USA

The head of the Secretary of Security and Peace, Juan Mauro Gonzalez, participated in a meeting with representatives of the United States State Department, led by Marco Rubio

Juan Mauro Gonzalez Martinez, Secretary of Security and Peace of Guanajuato, held a work meeting with representatives of the United States Government with the objective of strengthening international cooperation and coordination in security matters. 

At the instruction of the Governor of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, the head of the Secretary participated in the meeting with representatives of the United States Department of State, led by Marco Rubio, the agency responsible for foreign policy and international cooperation.

This meeting was held on Friday January 16th at the United States Embassy in Mexico City; representatives of agencies specializing in investigation and combating high-impact crimes also participated, such as the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), responsible for fighting drug trafficking and drug networks.

Also participating were Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), dedicated to investigating transnational crimes such as human trafficking, smuggling, trafficking of goods and money laundering; and the U.S. Marshal Service, specializing in locating fugitives and supporting judicial processes.

During the meeting, mechanisms were discussed to strengthen the exchange of strategic information, operational coordination, and the building of trust, under a shared vision that recognizes that security challenges transcend State and national borders.

The Secretary of Security and Peace reaffirmed that Guanajuato promotes a security policy with a regional and international focus, based on institutional cooperation as a way to prevent crime, combat criminal structures and protect Guanajuatense families.
