Between January and December 2025, the Guanajuato Secretary of Security and Peace arrested 3,336 people, including 55 perpetrators of violence throughout the State, and impacted the criminal economy by 453 million 863 thousand 881 pesos.
This result reflects a security approach based on intelligence, investigation, regionalized presence and the fight against criminal economies, under the state strategy Operational Coordination of the New Anti-Crime Intelligence Force (CONFIA).
The economic impact on the criminal organization totaled:
- 453,863,881 pesos
- 382,590,000 pesos came from various seizures
- 141,173,000 pesos in recovered merchandise
- 111,023,000 pesos in seized hydrocarbons
- 130,393,000 pesos from the seizure of suspected drug doses
- 71,273,000 pesos were saved by the Anti-Extortion Squad from extortion payments
The Secretary of Security and Peace reported the arrest of 3,336 people at the end of 2025, representing a 44.98% increase compared to 2024. This included 55 individuals suspected of generating violence.
The Anti-Extortion Squad handled 252 cases during the year, achieving 27 successful cases and locating 36 people.
Guanajuato registered a 62% decrease in the daily average of intentional homicides, representing a constant decrease in the last 10 months, going from 12.7 homicides per day in February 2025, to 4.87 in December 2025.
In the last month of 2025, Guanajuato ended up occupying the seventh position nationally in the rate of homicide victims per 100,000 inhabitants, when in February it was in first place.
This result reflects a security approach based on intelligence, investigation, regionalized presence and the fight against criminal economies, under the state strategy Operational Coordination of the New Anti-Crime Intelligence Force (CONFIA).
One year after the implementation of this strategy, the Government of Guanajuato announced the incorporation of 162 new patrol vehicles for the State Public Security Forces (FSPE) that will particularly strengthen the State Highway Police (PEC).
The People’s Government also promoted a collaboration and coordination agreement on security matters with four states in the Bajío region . This regional intelligence network has already been established in San Luis Potosi, Jalisco, and Michoacan, and will soon be implemented in Queretaro and Zacatecas.
