The Secretary of Tourism and Identity attributed the tourism growth recorded in 2025 to a comprehensive promotion and trust strategy, promoted since the beginning of the current state administration, led by the Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo.
The head of SECTURI, Maria Guadalupe Robles Leon, explained that one of the key factors was the Governor’s decision to allocate 100% of the hotel tax to tourism, which made it posible to strengthen the promotion of Guanajuato in national and international markets.
“When the governor took office, the first thing she did was allocate 100% of the hotel tax revenue to tourism. This means we have 162 million pesos to use for a promotional strategy,” the official said.
These resources have been applied to promotional campaigns, public relations projects, and comprehensive strategies with municipalities.
“That is becoming clear. What is it being used for? In promotional campaigns at the national, state, and international levels, in public relations projects, and in comprehensive municipal projects,” Robles Leon said.
The secretary also noted that the CONFIA security strategy, led by the People’s Government, has been key to improve the perception of the destination.
“This is also a result of the entire CONFÍA strategy implemented by the governor, which helps us lower the perception of insecurity in Guanajuato and makes visitors feel confident to keep coming to visit,” said the head of SECTURI.
