Producers from Apaseo el Alto complete the first export of Guanajuatense pomegranate to the United States, with the support of the State Government through COFOCE

Producers from Apaseo el Alto successfully completed the first indirect export of Guanajuatense pomegranate to the United States, marking a new milestone for the State’s agro-food sector, thanks to the support of the Government of the State of Guanajuato through COFOCE.
This achievement is the result of the commercial linkage work carried out by COFOCE to strengthen the competitiveness of local producers and promote the internationalization of Guanajuatense food products.
In August of this year, COFOCE facilitated contact between pomegranate producers in Apaseo El Alto and an international buyer based in the United States, who expressed interest in the Guanajuato crop due to its quality, flavor, and size. Following a product review and evaluation process, the sale and export of more than 30 tons of fresh fruit was finalized, thus consolidating a new market opportunity for the region.
With this first export, Guanajuato positions itself as a new benchmark in the international production and marketing of pomegranates, a fruit that has stood out for its unique characteristics and recognition at regional festivals for its flavor and size.
COFOCE’s support consisted of facilitating the commercial link and guiding producers on export processes, reinforcing the State Government ‘s commitment to the development of the agro-food sector and the diversification of international destinations for local products.
Currently, the Guanajuato-based company is part of the community of exporters supported by COFOCE, generating jobs in the region and contributing to the positioning of Guanajuato as an agro-exporting leader in Mexico.
With this important step, the Government of the State of Guanajuato, through COFOCE, reaffirms its commitment to boost agriculture, agro-food innovation, and opening new business opportunities for Guanajuatense families.
