UVEG celebrates 18 years as a digital education alternative; today it has more than 108,000 active students

In another edition of the weekly program “Connecting with the People,” the Governor of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, presented the progress, results, and education opportunities promoted by the Virtual University of the State of Guanajuato (UVEG), an institution celebrating 18 years as a national leader in virtual education.
The Governor and the Rector of UVEG, Ricardo Narvaez Martinez, announced 2,000 scholarships exclusively for women through the “Digital Allies” program, with the goal of strengthening their skills in No-Code and Generative Artificial Intelligence, key technologies for their integration into the digital ecosystem and innovation projects.
“Women are not only looking to create better opportunities, they are looking to support their families, they are always looking to prepare themselves, so these 2,000 scholarships are for you, without the need to leave your children; everything is virtual with the sole objective of supporting you to get ahead,” said the Governor.
These training sessions will be held from January to March 2026 and will grant certification and a micro-credential to the participants. At the end of the course, the best projects will be able to access financial support through Financiera Tu Puedes for their development

The Governor recalled that 50 scholarships for the Journalism Diploma program were recently awarded, and these were filled in a matter of hours. Due to high demand, the Governor announced that 50 more scholarships will be awarded.
Rector Ricardo Narvaez noted that UVEG now has more than 108,000 active users, a figure that places it among the most important virtual universities in Mexico.
Over the course of 18 years, the institution has serviced 73,978 graduates in high school, undergraduate, postgraduate, continuing education and certifications.
UVEG has broken down geographical and time barriers, reaching students in all 46 municipalities of Guanajuato, all 32 states of Mexico, and 109 countries, allowing thousands of people to study from anywhere in the world.
Due to its broad reach, in June of this year, the opening of the UVEG Help Desk of the Government of Guanajuato Representation in Mexico City was announced. Since its establishment, it has provided 220 direct services.
UVEG is reinventing itself and launching Community Telebachillerato, a face-to-face model aimed at young people in communities with fewer than 2,500 inhabitants and without nearby access to upper secondary education. Currently, the State has 354 campuses.
