The Secretary of Health calls all Guanajuatenses to extreme precautionary measures to protect themselves against low temperatures

In light of the drop in temperatures being recorded in various regions of the State, the Guanajuato Health Secretary is calling on the population of all 46 municipalities to take extra precautions and protect their health.
Health Secretary Gabriel Cortes Alcala urged to protect especially children, the elderly, and those suffering from respiratory or chronic illnesses. For vulnerable groups, the Secretary of Health implemented influenza vaccination.
On the influenza so far this season October 2025–March 2026 there have been no cases or deaths caused by influenza, and Guanajuato has seen a 44% reduction in Covid 19 cases.
Cortes Alcala said that, during the current winter season, several cold fronts are expected to arrive, causing low temperatures, frosts and strong winds, mainly in the mountainous and northern areas of Guanajuato.
Recommendations for the public:
- Dress warm, using several layers of clothing
- Avoid sudden temperature changes and cold drafts
- Consume foods rich in vitamins A and C, such as fresh fruits and vegetables
- Keep enclosed spaces well ventilated when using heaters or wood heaters to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning
- Go to the nearest health center if you experience respiratory symptoms, fever, or difficulty breathing
- Avoid self-medicating
- Protect pets and livestock from the cold
The Secretary of Health also invites the public to take advantage of the winter vaccination campaign, which includes the application of doses against influenza and Covid 19, available free of charge at the State’s health units.
The Secretary reiterates its commitment to safeguard the well-being of Guanajuatense families with active epidemiological surveillance.
