SSG intervenes in more cemeteries of Guanajuato regarding health risks to protect visitors

In order to contribute to the prevention of vector-borne diseases and ahead of the Day of the Dead celebrations, the Ministry of Health intensified health risk protection activities in several municipalities.
The Jaral del Progreso municipal cemetery was cleaned and sanitized in coordination with the CAISES Health Promotion Department, the Municipal Public Services Directorate, and the Vector Brigade of the Salamanca Health Jurisdiction V.
During the activities, unused materials such as cardboard, PET plastic, leaves, flower waste, and containers and receptacles that posed a potential risk to the spread of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which transmits diseases such as dengue, were collected.
The cemetery’s pools and common areas were also cleaned, and the staff in charge of the site were provided with guidance on preventive and health control measures.
Municipal Public Services and Health Promotion personnel participated in a junk-removal campaign in the Del Valle neighborhood. Public address systems were used to invite residents to participate, removing materials such as tires, bottles, old furniture, and containers that could collect water.
As part of the preventive measures, a large junk-removal campaign will be held in Yuriria on October 31 throughout the central area of the municipality.
The Secretary of Health invites the public to actively participate by bringing unused items (tires, bottles, old furniture, containers, and junk) to the meeting point located at the sports fields in front of the ISSSTE, starting at 11:00 a.m.
Citizen participation is key to keep our spaces free of mosquito breeding grounds and protect everyone’s health.
