The Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, in the broadcast of the program Connecting with the People, invited civil society to continue participating in the “Touching Hearts” strategy, to continue multiplying actions for the benefit of the people of Guanajuato.

This year, funding totaling more than 1.163 billion pesos was available in two calls for projects. In the first call, launched on August 6, 212 projects were approved for a total of 779.5 million pesos.

And in the second call, which is currently underway, the available amount is 384.4 million pesos, the Governor explained.

Connecting with People featured the participation of Rosario Corona Amador, Secretary of the New Beginning; Gerardo Ibarra, who is part of the Expert Project Evaluation Group; and Priest Carlos Sandoval Rangel, of Demonstrando Afecto AC.

Libia Dennise reiterated that the People’s Government works hand in hand with civil society organizations and groups OSCs, which is why the “Touching Hearts” initiative has been promoted, using resources of the Payroll Tax.

The State Congress approved the bill to allocate 0.1% of this Payroll Tax to public safety projects and 0.2% to Social Development projects. With this, the use of these 0.3% of the ISN resources is established and guaranteed by law, he explained.

Participating civil associations agree to abide to these rules, under the premise that funding must be allocated to sustainable and viable projects that improve people’s lives. CSOs are the means to achieve this goal. Transparency allows anyone to review it.

The Expert Evaluators Group, explained Corona, was comprised of 63 specialists from the four thematic subcommittees, with high-level profiles like:

  • University rectors, presidents of national associations, academics, members of the National System of Researchers, and presidents of professional associations, among other

In the end, 212 projects were approved in the first call for proposals, totaling 779.5 million pesos, all in compliance with the Operating Rules, said Rosario Corona.

The Governor noted that the most important is that everything is transparent and people can learn more by visiting tocarcorazones.guanajuato.gob.mx, where they will find all the registration details and calls.

Gerardo Ibarra said that this model is already a national benchmark, and other States are eager to replicate it.
