The Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, invited everyone to experience one of Mexico’s most exciting and colorful events, the International Balloon Festival (FIG), in Leon, Guanajuato.
“In Guanajuato, we are ready to welcome you with open arms. We continue to be a favorite destination not only in Mexico, but around the world, for the warmth of our people,” said the Governor.
The Governor announced that for this 23rd edition of the FIG, a “People’s Friday” will be held, where admission to the Festival will be free on Friday morning, November 14th, so that everyone can enjoy the opening ceremony, making it an inclusive event.
“You’ll be able to enter for free to enjoy the Festival’s opening, witness the unveiling of the monumental flag, and the National Air Force planes, which will also take to the skies, and will surprise all the families of Guanajuato,” said Libia Dennise.
The FIG will take place from November 14 to 17 and, like every year, will bring together more than 200 hot air balloons, this time from 25 countries including Brazil, Spain, the United States, Taiwan, Switzerland, and Austria.
It is estimated that there will be more than 400,000 attendees and generate an estimated economic impact of 850 million pesos. The FIG generates economic benefits for hotels, restaurants, transportation, and local commerce, and strengthens the economy of Leon and surrounding municipalities, especially within the event of the Buen Fin (Good Weekend) festival.
In this edition, the Marca Guanajuato Pavilion will showcase the best of local products like: footwear, handicrafts, wines, hats, and jewelry, reflecting the talent and creativity of our people, said Governor Libia Dennise.
Authorities emphasized that, during the FIG, Operation of Surveillance of Roads will be reinforced, with support from the National Guard Highway Division, ensuring the safety of all visitors.
“What has kept people visiting to FIG and coming back is the warmth of the people, because visitors are always welcomed in Leon. We have a clean, beautiful city with ever-increasing infrastructure,” said Alejandra Gutierrez Campos, Mayor of León.
“Diversity and color, that’s what the Festival of Festivals represents. The FIG is a space for harmony, family togetherness, inclusion, and respect for the environment,” emphasized Escandra Salim Alle, FIG General Director.
The FIG consolidates as one of the most important tourism events in the country and the largest of its kind in Latin America.
