Governor renews the symbolic fire of freedom

The 215th anniversary of the Capture of the Alhondiga de Granaditas is commemorated. Libia Dennise leads the commemorative civic-military parade

With the Renewal of the Symbolic Fire, the Governor reaffirmed her commitment to defend and keep alive the ideals of Guanajuatenses

As part of the 215th anniversary of the Capture of the Alhondiga de Granaditas, the Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, led the civic-military parade and the solemn Ceremony of Renewal of the Symbolic Fire of Freedom in the Regional Museum of the Alhondiga de Granaditas.

This historic event commemorates the courage of the insurgents led by Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, as well as the heroism of Juan Jose de los Reyes Martinez Amaro, known as El Pipila, who paved the way for Mexico’s independence.

“The renewal of the symbolic fire of freedom is a profound and emotional act that invites us to reflect and keep alive the history that makes us who we are,” said Libia.

“It is a story that makes our beloved Guanajuato unique, because Mexico Was Born Here, the ideals that beat in the hearts of all Mexicans were born here, and the freedom of our people was born here,” said the State Governor.

During her address, the Governor emphasized that her administration reaffirms its firm commitment to continue working for the causes and highest aspirations of the people of Guanajuato.

With the Renewal of the Symbolic Fire, the Governor reaffirmed her commitment to defend and keep alive the ideals of independence, transforming them into well-being, development, and hope for all.

“This fire now symbolizes this struggle, this New Beginning,” said Libia.

The Governor was in this commemorative ceremony with Juan Carlos Montesinos Carranza, President of the State DIF Council; and other Civil, Judicial and military Authorities.

Governor leads parade 

Previously, Governor Libia Dennise led the civic-military parade commemorating the 215th anniversary of the Capture of the Alhondiga de Granaditas in Guanajuato City.

This parade was first held in 1910, during the Independence Centennial, and was established as an annual tradition in 1925. Since then, the capital’s residents gather here every year to honor their history and renew their pride in their belonging.

Participating this year were education institutions, civil and cultural organizations, which contribute artistic expressions, music, and traditional dances; also participating were Municipal, State, and Federal Authorities; as well as the Armed Forces and security forces from all three levels of government and civil protection institutions.

Before the parade began, Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, accompanied by representatives of the legislative and judicial branches, presided over the flag-raising ceremony.
