The Secretary of Security and Peace of the State of Guanajuato not only has the capacity to protect with intelligence and strategy: it also has the heart to protect life.

On August 5, for the first time in this administration, two Archangel helicopters of the State Public Security Forces (FSPE) participated in an aerial organ transfer, in collaboration with the Guanajuato Secretary of Health and the National Transplant Center (CENATRA).

The mission was activated after the generous decision of the family of a minor from the Tierra Prieta community in the municipality of Doctor Mora, who was diagnosed with brain death.

“My parents were sure they wanted to donate, we won’t have him, but we will have his life in other people,” shared Brenda, the donor’s sister.

The Dolores Hidalgo General Hospital (CIN) was the scene of a moving moment. Medical and surgical staff, along with family members, formed a walkway of honor to bid farewell to the donor amid applause and respect.

“For me, he loved life so much that he decided to stay here as long as he could,” said doctor Veronica Aguilar, coordinator of the hospital’s organ procurement team.

“He wanted to help everyone, as he said days before this unfortunate event. When his family accepted the donation, they did so convinced that they were fulfilling his wishes,” Aguilar said. “His mission was that: stay a little longer in this world to continue giving life.”

The doctor also left a message for Guanajuatense families: talking about organ donation while you’re alive is just as important as deciding to do so. “Donation is an act of love, an act of generosity. It’s a way for us to remain in this world and to share. So, say yes to donation and talk about it with your family.”

“He had so many reasons to help. I want to donate too when I die, I realize how many people we’ll be restoring happiness to,” said proudly Brenda, the donor’s sister.
