The People’s Government reaffirms its commitment to the growth and prosperity of Guanajuatense families

Leon/Gto News

Guanajuato continues to stand out nationally as a motor of economic development. According to the results of the 2024 INEGI Economic Census, in just five years the State grew from 242,534 to 270,040 economic units, representing an 11.3% growth.

This growth consolidates Guanajuato’s position as the sixth largest economic State in Mexico, accounting for 4.9% of the national total, reflecting the dynamism and trust generated by the State’s economic ecosystem.

The Government of the People, led by Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, has as a priority to strengthen the economic ecosystem with public policies that promote investment, the development of MSMEs, and the training of local talent.

The Secretary of Economy, Claudia Cristina Villasenor Aguilar, said that the progress reflected in the census confirms the effectiveness of the cross-cutting work being carried out in Guanajuato to generate prosperity, regional competitiveness, and more quality jobs.

Among the most notable results of the 2024 Economic Census is:

  • Guanajuato ranked 5th nationwide in terms of employed personnel
  • More than 1.4 million people employed
  • The numbers reflect the dynamism and capacity of Guanajuato to generate formal employment

The gross census added value, one of the key indicators of economic activity:

  • Reached 832.323 billion pesos
  • Representing a real increase of 43.2% compared to the previous census

These indicators consolidate Guanajuato’s position as one of the most productive economies in the country.

Microenterprises also showed outstanding performance, registering 32.5% growth in added value, demonstrating their leading role in the State’s economic development.

A particularly relevant indicator is that women’s participation in the economy reached 43.3%, the highest figure recorded by the economic census of the State. This confirms the increasingly active and decisive role of women in Guanajuato’s productive activity and their contribution to family prosperity.

These results reaffirm that Guanajuato is moving steadily toward a more inclusive, balanced, and competitive economic development model, where more people, especially women, have access to opportunities to grow and prosper.

The Secretary of Economy, announced that they will continue to drive Guanajuato’s economic momentum, in a joint effort that consolidates a more dynamic and inclusive business ecosystem, generating opportunities and improving the quality of life for Guanajuatense families.
