The Bajio Logistics Gateway project, promoted by the Government of the State of Guanajuato, was officially recognized as a Development Hub by the Federal Government. Its creation was formalized with its publication in the Official Gazette of the Federation. This initiative is intended to boost the industrial, logistical, and economic development of the region.
The People’s Government, led by Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, is promoting economic infrastructure that positions Guanajuato as a logistics hub, capable of attracting high-impact investments and coordinating national and export supply chains.
The Secretary of Economy, Claudia Cristina Villasenor Aguilar, stated that this project will create conditions for micro, small, medium-sized, and large businesses to more actively integrate into the local economy, benefiting Guanajuatense families.
With an area of more than 52 hectares, the Bajio Logistics Gateway will become a strategic zone that will transform Guanajuato’s economy and strengthen its position in the global supply chain.
The project is part of “Plan Mexico,” a national strategy focused on industrialization, regional development, and economic diversification. The hub in Guanajuato will attract investments that will directly benefit the population through job opportunities, promoting prosperity, and building peace.
The announcement marks a new era for Guanajuato, which is adding infrastructure, connectivity, and human capital to consolidate its position as a manufacturing and distribution center nationwide.
This is a public-private initiative interconnected with the Celaya Railway Bypass, which includes strategic alliances with companies such as Ferromex and Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Mexico.
The project will integrate general and value-added logistics services, such as a customs section and bonded yards certified by the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT), ensuring greater security and operational efficiency.
Priority sectors include industry, advanced manufacturing, logistics and transportation, high-value agrobusiness, information technology, aerospace, grains, steel, household appliances, and automotive, consolidating the region as a key hub for trade and industry.
The Bajio Logistics Gateway will contribute to the internationalization of Plan Mexico, reducing imports and promoting greater domestic production. It will also boost local content in manufactured products, strengthen the domestic market, and expand the capacity for innovation and technological development.
Guanajuato was chosen for its competitive advantages, including its prime location for accessing national and international markets, as well as its road, rail, and logistics connectivity.
