The People’s Government, through the System for the Comprehensive Development of the Family (DIF), launched the People’s Volunteering with Ocampo collection, in support of families affected by the floods in the town of San Pedro de Ibarra, in Ocampo.

Anyone can join and bring donations to the collection centers with non-perishable food items, personal hygiene items, household goods, and cleaning supplies.

The President of the Advisory Council of the Guanajuato State DIF System, Juan Carlos Montesinos Carranza, and the General Director,  José Alfonso Borja Pimentel,  call on Guanajuato society, business leaders, and civil associations to join the collection in support of the affected families.

“Today more than ever, we need the solidarity of the people of Guanajuato. We invite citizens to bring their donations to the collection centers to provide immediate support to those who have lost everything,” said Juan Carlos Montesinos.

“The families of Ocampo need our help to rebuild their lives. Behind every person affected, there is a story. In Guanajuato, we are famous by our kindness, and this is a good time to show solidarity. I invite you to join the People’s Volunteers collection, in which the DIF Guanajuato is participating by activating collection centers where we will be receiving your donations,” said Montesinos.

Collection centers:

  • Guanajuato State DIF System (Paseo de la Presa # 89 A in Guanajuato City)
  • The 46 Municipal DIF Systems
  • New Beginning Centers in each municipality

The collection centers will be open from June 23 to July 31, 2025, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Montesinos mentioned that those who cannot bring their donations to the collection centers have the option of calling the State DIF team, they will be able to collect them from their homes in the state capital.

To do so, the State DIF is making available:

  • Social media channels @difgente
  • The phone line 473 735 3300

The General Director of the Guanajuato State DIF System, Jose Alfonso Borja Pimentel, explained that all proceeds will go to support the 155 families affected by the floods, representing approximately 482 people from San Pedro de Ibarra.

“What our governor (Libia Denisse Garcia) has asked of us to do, and that we will do in a coordinated manner, is to request the collaboration of the People’s Volunteers, led by our President, Juan Carlos Montesinos, to continue inviting citizens, in this case, to help us with various supplies that we have already identified,” he said.

You can donate:

  • Cleaning.- Tools, soap, detergent, chlorine, toilet paper
  • Personal hygiene.- Shampoo, toothpaste, wet wipes
  • Home.- Household goods, furniture in good condition
  • Food.- Rice, beans, canned food, pasta, oil, bottled water (any presentation)

This action is part of the State DIF’s ongoing commitment to serving the most vulnerable communities in emergency situations. It is also an opportunity for citizens to join this cause under the motto that “the smallest help can make the biggest difference.”
