The Municipality and COFOCE formalize agreement to professionalize business commerce

The challenge is to impact the entire world and not just the 1% as it is now

Purisima del Rincon/Gto News

Roberto Garcia Urbano, Mayor of Purisima de Rincon, led the signing of an agreement with COFOCE for the opening of training workshops that will promote the export of products produced in the municipality, including footwear, leather goods, agricultural products, handicrafts, and other, to different parts of the world.

Luis Ernesto Rojas Avila, Director General of the Coordinator for the Promotion of Foreign Trade (COFOCE), reaffirmed the importance of today’s global dynamic, moving beyond the complacency of a mere 1% market share to value and position local products in a 99% share of the international market.

Avila said that the major challenges facing the world are actually opportunities; however, a new strategy for promoting local production is equally important.

Roberto Garcia Urbano said that business owners have been primarily interested in developing e-commerce or online commerce with greater impact, but to do so, they need more tools and knowledge to strengthen the activity and grow the market for products made in Purisima. Therefore, these workshops could be the beginning of this new organization scheme between the government and business owners.

This information had been shared a few days ago in a meeting with business leaders, and now that the agreement has been signed —the first of its kind by COFOCE and the Municipality— the decision is to provide greater training to everyone on topics such as international promotion, fostering professionalization in trade, business opportunities in Central America with a significant impact on Guatemala and El Salvador; 2026 fashion trends; product packaging solutions and customer service; trade missions, among other upon request.

Previously, COFOCE has supported 42 companies in Purisima in sectors like:

  • Footwear, hats, leather, and fur; agro-foods (fresh and processed); and containers, packaging, and auto parts industries

In the State level, there are 109 exporting companies, resulting in revenue or economic mobility from exports totaling $629 million.

The People’s Government, through COFOCE, will continue working on inclusive export projects and promoting steady economic growth and prosperity that benefit the people of Guanajuato.
