Pools and water parks are closely watched

SSG deploys sanitary revision operations in swimming pools at recreational centers and spas in all 46 municipalities

The Guanajuato Health Secretary intensified health regulation visits to swimming pools at recreational centers and spas in the 46 municipalities.

Health Secretary Gabriel Cortes Alcala reported that, in accordance with the action plan of the various Health Regulation areas of the 8 jurisdictions, 50 health inspections have been carried out in swimming pools to date, as part of Operation Lent 2025.

Nineteen samples were obtained for analysis of free-living amoebas, of which 11 were found to be within the standard and 8 are currently being analyzed at the State Health Laboratory.

Likewise, for the determination of fecal coliform organisms, 35 samples were found to be within the standard, 2 were found to be outside the standard, and 8 samples are being analyzed at the State Public Health Laboratory.

Additionally, with the goal of helping to reduce health risk factors for pool users due to physical and sanitary conditions and water quality, seven training sessions were held, attended by 257 participants.

The training sessions were aimed at managers and owners of swimming pools, water parks, spas, clubs, and education centers in the municipalities of Guanajuato, San Miguel de Allende, Celaya, Acambaro, Salamanca, Irapuato, and Silao.

It is also important that visitors who go to recreational centers with swimming pools comply with the following:

• Locate the first aid site and lifeguard personnel
• Do not drink alcoholic beverages while using the pool
• Do not enter the pool immediately after eating
• Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun and use sunscreen
• Wear sandals in the pool and shower areas
• Supervise children and older adults while using the pool
• Comply with the regulations of recreational centers
