“I am deeply moved to see on your faces, in your eyes, and in those of your families, the pride of belonging to this active police force, the oldest in this country,” said Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, when recognizing the members of the State Public Security Forces (FSPE) on their 192nd anniversary.

Libia Dennise reaffirmed the People’s Government’s commitment to building peace and public security and presented a total of 191 decorations to FSPE personnel for their merits.

The Governor presented:

  • 13 Courage Awards
  • 149 Perseverance Awards (for 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30 years of service)
  • 6 Cross of Honor Awards to families of personnel killed in the line of duty
  • 8 Technological Merit Awards
  • 15 to Retired Personnel

Those who have been recognized are a living example of a corporation that is growing stronger. You deserve the medal that has been awarded today to those who have bravely given their lives in the line of duty, said the Governor.

“Because there is so much history here, so much dignity, so much heart, and so much courage. As a representative of the people of Guanajuato I tell you that our people are equally grateful for the daily work you do for the safety of the families of Guanajuato,” said the Governor.

Today, for the first time at an event of this kind, Legislative Decree 199, dated March 26, 1833, was displayed. This is the original document that gave rise to the State Security Battalion and Squadron, the direct predecessor of the FSPE.

This document was temporarily handed over by the Historical Archive of the State Congress and was on display in the lobby of the State Auditorium during this event.

“With this rich history of our institution, our Public Security Forces today renew their commitment to Guanajuato, to its people, to wear this uniform with pride, but above all, to demonstrate the values ​​that characterize us as Guanajuatenses. The dignity with which you bear not only the colors of Guanajuato, but also the names our ancestors have passed down to us,” the Governor said.

“On behalf of the people of Guanajuato, please accept my recognition, but also the call to do more, to give more, because this land and your families are worth everything. Today we are living through a difficult time in our national history, but Mexico and Guanajuato have shown that it has been the difficult times that have most driven us to move forward,” the Governor concluded.

Today, the Secretary of Security and Peace operates with a reinforced structure, comprised of three main areas:

  • The Undersecretary of Prevention
  • The Undersecretary of Security
  • The Undersecretary of Operational Intelligence
  • Besides the organism counts with the General Commissioner of the FSPE, which preserves and renews the legacy of the First Light Force

Present at this event were Juan Mauro Gonzalez Martinez, Secretary of Security and Peace; Miriam Reyes Carmona, President of the Guanajuato State Congress; Hector Tinajero Munoz, President of the Supreme Court of Justice of the State of Guanajuato; and Jorge Jimenez Lona, Secretary of Government of the State of Guanajuato, besides other State Officials and legislators.
