Guanajuato continues positioning as a key pillar of the national economy

Guanajuato reached 1st place nationally in the value of vehicle production in 2024, with a cumulative total of 658 billion pesos and an annual growth rate of 16.8%, exceeding the national average of 6% compared to the previous year, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).

Under the leadership of Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, the People’s Government has implemented key strategies to strengthen the automotive industry and its value chains, generating more jobs and opportunities for Guanajuatense families.

Thanks to these actions, Guanajuato accounts for 18.52% of the sector’s national production value, consolidating the State as a strategic benchmark for industrial investment and innovation.
Guanajuato has a robust and competitive industrial ecosystem, which has been key to the State’s growth and positioning as a leader in automotive industry.
Four world-class automakers operate in the State:
- Honda, General Motors, Toyota, and Mazda

Plus two original equipment manufacturers (OEMs):
- Ford and Volkswagen, strengthening the sector’s productive capacity

This infrastructure is complemented by a network of internationally renowned strategic suppliers such as:
- Pirelli, Continental, Michelin, American Axle, BOS, GKN, and Ryobi, among others, which drive innovation, efficiency, and competitiveness in the supply chain
Guanajuato’s automotive cluster contributes 20.6% of the State’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and generates more than 220,000 formal jobs, consolidating its position as a key pillar of the State’s economic development and a national benchmark.

Claudia Cristina Villasenor Aguilar, Secretary of Economy, emphasized that these results reflect the trust of businesses in Guanajuato, supported by a solid infrastructure, skilled workforce, and competitive conditions.
The People’s Government remains committed to promoting public policies that strengthen competitiveness, diversify the economy, and attract more investments that improve the quality of life of Guanajuatenses.
