Each year more than 30 thousand tons of the vegetable annually and its production is increasing

Guanajuato is the undisputed first place nationally in cauliflower production and has maintained this position for the last 10 years, with a trend to grow, reported the Secretary of the Countryside of Guanajuato.
The last reported production was:
- 30,133 tons per year
- With a value of $190,720,075 pesos
The municipalities that produced the most product were:
- Doctor Mora, Silao, Salamanca, San Luis de la Paz and Juventino Rosas
These are numbers of the end of 2023, according to the Agro-Food and Fisheries Information Service (SIAP).
The increased supply of vegetables in our State led to an 8.2% increase in production value, given that in Guanajuato the price paid to producers remained stable; for each ton sold, farmers received, on average, $6,329 pesos.
The State agency detailed that in national cauliflower production, Guanajuato is followed by the state of Puebla, with more than 19 thousand tons; and Hidalgo, with more than 16 thousand tons annually.
Reports also detail that in 2023, 1,865 hectares of this vegetable were planted in Guanajuato, which can be consumed raw or cooked in various preparations and represents a great source of nutrients such as vitamins C and B6, in addition to minerals necessary for health such as potassium, calcium and phosphorus.
The production trend is one of sustained growth year after year. For example, in 2012, Guanajuato was ranked fourth in the country, with an annual production of 7,607 tons. Today, production is almost four times greater and has managed to surpass states such as Puebla, Hidalgo and Michoacan.
Finally, the Ministry of Agriculture reported that Guanajuato’s production is mainly exported to the United States, and to countries such as Canada and Japan.
