The Secretary of Economy is working to ensure that Guanajuato has sufficient energy for industrial and domestic use
The portfolio has high potential for generating electricity and green hydrogen

In order to maintain and increase energy sufficiency in Guanajuato, there is a portfolio of 15 projects with an electrical energy potential of 1,227 MW for domestic and industrial use and 5,530 tons of green hydrogen.
In the current State Administration of Governor Libia Denisse Garcia Munoz Ledo, work is being done to continue consolidating and taking advantage of Guanajuato’s competitive advantages to maintain its attractiveness for business and nearshoring.
Through the Secretary of Economy headed by Claudia Cristina Villasenor Aguilar, conditions are created for private initiative to generate and preserve jobs in an ecosystem of prosperity that provides certainty and trust to investments with the necessary economic infrastructure.
The municipalities with high potential for the installation of these projects are:
- San Felipe, San Luis de la Paz, San Diego de la Union, Doctor Mora, Romita, Abasolo, Salamanca, San Miguel de Allende, Irapuato, Acambaro and Salvatierra
These projects involve solar photovoltaic, combined cycle, hydroelectric, wind and green hydrogen technologies, which demonstrate the State’s commitment to sustainability by promoting the use of alternative and renewable energies.
Guanajuato is interconnected to the national grid, which allows for a constant and stable flow of energy to sustain general operations.
The Government of the People, through the Ministry of Economy, is working to create the conditions for Guanajuato to be prepared to face global energy challenges with a robust infrastructure, a strategic approach and the adoption of new energy sources.
The Secretary reaffirms the State’s commitment to development that integrates economic competitiveness, social well-being and sustainability.
