“Today our commitment is renewed with the girls and women of Guanajuato; we work to achieve equality, security, integrity and full development for all”, said the Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo.
Libia Dennise led the opening ceremony of the Forum on Substantive Equality and Women’s Rights, which is held in the city of Guanajuato as part of the consultation forums convened at the national level by the Government of the Republic for the preparation of the National Development Plan 2025-2030.
“I am pleased to be part of this important Forum on the path to the National Development Plan, which addresses one of the fundamental issues for the development of Mexico: substantive equality, recognizing women as possessors of all the rights to which we must have access,” said Libia.
Today, this forum is a clear example that President Claudia Sheinbaum and this People’s Government are seeking not only to make visible, but to generate public policies that allow us to live in equal conditions, to have the same opportunities, said the Governor.
“I am pleased that Guanajuato has hosted this forum, where we will discuss important issues such as the right of women to live a life free of violence, speaking about all the spaces where women are victims of violence,” said Libia Dennise.
Libia noted that the People’s Government is clear about its mission to work so that families can live better; we are a Gender Equality Cabinet and the gender perspective permeates every action and strategy of the government.
Libia Dennise pointed out that from the first day of this government, work began to respond and establish measures for the Gender Alert, and “not because of this Alert. We are committed to working for the women of Guanajuato who deserve to live in peace, free from violence.”
And the Governor added, “for this reason, a policy of Zero Tolerance for Violence against women and girls in Guanajuato has been adopted”.
“This National Development Plan will also echo in the public policies that we will implement in Guanajuato to guarantee that women live free from violence,” said Libia Dennise.
Garcia Munoz Ledo reiterated that the People’s Government is an unconditional ally of women, “I know very well that building a society with equality, where women live without discrimination and without violence, requires deep and permanent changes. For this reason, our commitment to the women of our State is very strong”.
The event was attended by the Undersecretary for the Prevention of Violence of the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Esthela Damian Peralta, who noted the fact that this forum is being held in Guanajuato, where strong work is being done with public policies that promote the development of girls and women.
In the discussions participants talked about the following topics:
- Substantive equality and women’s rights
- Safety for women
- Procurement of justice for women
- Attention to the causes and prevention of violence against women
- Promoting women in the armed forces
These roundtables brought together female citizens, experts, representatives from various sectors (academic, social and business) and public officials. Their objective is to identify the main problems and propose concrete solutions in each area.
