The global situation and the restructuring of world markets have generated changes in both national and international sales in the footwear sector.

Different situations, such as inflation, the increase in the cost of gasoline, the economic issues, politics in the neighboring country, among many other factors, have generated changes in imports and exports not only in the fashion sector but in many other sectors.

However, COFOCE working with CICEG, presented at a press conference the strategies and actions that have been worked on in a transversal manner in order not to affect entrepreneurs in this sector.

“The good news is that we at CICEG, COFOCE, and businesspeople have been more than concerned, we have also been busy generating strategies and, above all, reinventing and reimagining the way in which we are reaching the world,” said Luis Rojas, Director of COFOCE.

Mariano Padilla Gonalez, Vice President of Internationalization at CICEG, said that one of the strategies is through Shoes From Mexico, a digital platform where products and different Guanajuato brands are displayed. This platform created by CICEG and promoted by COFOCE promotes the exportable offer of various companies in the sector.

Among them the brands from Guanajuato are present in various countries, with different footwear products such as:

  • Golf shoes, cowboy boots for women in the United States, casual and dress shoes for men in Spain, and athletic shoes for women in the US, Canada, and Central America, with a projection of more than 200 thousand pairs per sector
  • They also offer products with differentiated value such as hunter footwear, barefoot footwear, and wrestling footwear

Businessman David Torres advices companies in the sector to focus on added value and be more competitive.

“I hope that the brands that are suffering right now in the national market understand that the only way out is export. We compete not only with factories in Leon that sell to our own clients, but we compete with the Chinese, with Vietnam, with the whole world”, said David Torres. 

Another entrepreneur, Jorge Succar, said that he has been working with COFOCE for several years at exports. However, after several years, they realized that they had to start working and investing in brand positioning and online sales.

“We started to give life to the brand on social networks, to try to do something more formal in online sales, we launched into Mercado Libre, at the end of 2018, we understood that it was a different market, that we had to have stock to give them the service, and we began to invest in the stock, we said it is time to have our own store, that is when COFOCE supported us in creating our own online store, at the end of 2019 we created our own store where we sold in Mexico and in the United States as well, thanks to the support of COFOCE”, said Succar.
