28 widows of Guanajuatense migrants get their visa

The Secretary of Migrant of Guanajuato supports the benefitted in the process and assists them to get the benefit from the USA Government

In order to improve the quality of life of people, the Government of Guanajuato carries out actions in favor of migrants and their families.

Susana Guerra Vallejo, head of the SMEI, said that through the “Benefits Without Borders” program, 28 visas were delivered to beneficiaries, who will be able to access an economic pension in the United States.

“This group is made up of people from: Abasolo, Apaseo el Grande, Celaya, Coroneo, Dolores Higaldo, Guanajuato, Leon, Moroleon, Pueblo Nuevo, San Miguel de Allende, Silao, Victoria and Villagran”, said Guerra.

The Secretary explained that the program is aimed at Guanajuato migrants who worked for at least 10 years in the American Union and have a social security number from that country, with which they can receive this benefit monthly. 

The head of the Secretary of Migrant and International Liaison said that through this modality, personnel from the agency she directs advise and provide support during the visa application of wives, widows and minor children.

“All of them have the right to receive a pension from Social Security as long as they live at least one calendar month every half year in the American Union”, said Guerra 

The Official said that the SMEI has links and staff in the 46 municipalities of Guanajuato with whom citizens in general can go to request information about this program.

Guerra Vallejo said that with these actions, in Guanajuato we not only recognize the work of migrants abroad, we also assist them so that they receive a decent pension for the work done, effort and sacrifice in the neighboring country.
