The Best World Tourism Village of Jalpa de Canovas is ready to receive thousands of visitors in the 6th Gastronomic Show of the Walnut and Quince on Sunday August 25th in the Magic Town of Jalpa de Canovas

Some 8,500 visitors are expected to enjoy the event, the gastronomy and the joy that is offered by this Best World Tourism Village

“The 6th Gastronomic Event of the Walnut and Quince will be held next August 25th from 10am to 9:40pm, with the host of the event at the Best World Tourism Village named by the World Tourism Organization -WTO-, and Magic Town, Jalpa de Canovas”, said in a press conference at the CANACO headquarters in Leon, the Mayor of Purisima del Rincon, Roberto Garcia Urbano, who was with the Director of Touristic Products of the Secretary of Tourism of the State of Guanajuato, Frida Ximena Huett Lopez.

Officials expect to receive 8,500 visitors and total expenses for 1 million 700 thousand pesos.

The Mayor of Purisima del Rincon informed that they have worked hard on inclusion and sustainability when they hold each of the events, so that with all that certainty they invite all to be participants of the 6th Gastronomic Show of the Walnut and Quince, much local, as well as State, National and International, said Garcia Urbano.

The tourist corridor of Purisima del Rincon, has the projection and will keep working intensively so that each and all its communities are visited to know all the attractions like visiting the El Caracol; the community of Dolores; or increase the tourism at Canada de Negros; the history of Guadalupe de Jalpa and keep adding great experiences, so that those who come to the Gastronomic Presentation, can enjoy each and all this premises that are right along the road, said the Mayor of Purisima del Rincon.

For the 6th Gastronomic Presentation they will offer:

  • 63 exhibitors, 13 artisans, 22 cooks, 13 dessert and food sellers, 7 cajeta producers, 8 artisan drinks sellers, 9 arts and crafts sellers, 3 workshop presenters, 2 premises for the sale of the program of life inclusion.

Frida Ximena Huett Lopez, Director of Touristic Products of the Secretary of Tourism, said that Purisima del Rincon is a touristic city that abides to all the requirements to provide tourism services in sports, nature, and gastronomic, Purisima has participated in some of the 707 tourism events organized by the Secretary of Tourism, both national and international and in the distillates and wine events.

Walnut Quince Jalpa de Canovas Purísima del Rincon

Araceli Liliana Canchola Herrera, a producer of quince jam, invited all to be part of the gastronomic event, she has been a producer of quince jam for 15 years, and said that visitors, besides the gastronomy they can enjoy, must perceive the complete panorama of Jalpa de Canovas, because Jalpa is trust, calm and relax.

Also, said Araceli, Cajeta de Membrillos Ara, has produced some variations of the product, and now they offer a product for diabetic consumers, another has chamoy, and this year she started to produce the “machacada”, which is low in sugar and has small pieces of the fruit.

Araceli said that the product is sold in Leon, Guanajuato City, and it is exported to the USA, to cities like Chicago and Denver, and it also is exported to Spain and Colombia.

Roberto Camargo Perez, director of Tourism of Purisima, said that for those who wish to stay during the days of the event, there are 80 rooms available in Purisima del Rincon and in Jalpa de Canovas.

Camargo also said that this event is for all the family, it will be, said Camargo, an inclusive event with total coordination of the Tourism and DIF personnel.

The official also said that there will be a large variety of dishes like: Walnut mole, smoked ribs with quince sauce, walnut chiles, pork al maguey tacos, oven gorditas, walnut and quince tamales, traditional crushed ice, atole of many flavors and more
