With the aim of generating spaces for interaction, recognition and motivation, as well as offering necessary tools for the understanding and creation of new educational paradigms, the 3rd International Forum “Rethinking Education” began in Guanajuato.

This forum is held simultaneously in seven venues located in the municipalities of Leon, Abasolo, San Luis de la Paz, Dolores Hidalgo, Irapuato, Acambaro and Celaya. In addition, it is broadcast live through the social networks of the Guanajuato Ministry of Education, allowing the education community throughout the State to have access to this important event.

During the first day of activities, in Penjamo, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, Governor of Guanajuato highlighted the importance of this event made for the teachers of Guanajuato and for the benefit of girls, boys and adolescents who are the beneficiaries of the innovations that are promoted by the government in favor of their education.

The Governor noted that this forum, aims to create links with those responsible for the training of our students; teachers will be provided with the necessary tools to understand and create new paradigms, trends and education approaches in Guanajuato for the good of our children, which is that of Guanajuato and that of Mexico.

There were two master conferences, the first, given by Marco Fernandez who is an Associate Researcher at Mexico Evalua, as well as a professor-researcher at the School of Government and Public Transformation of the Tecnologico de Monterrey, with the topic “The future of Learning, Teaching and new technologies.

Marco pointed out the importance of these events, since they provide an opportunity to bring information to teachers and also learn from them, pointing out that only by working together can we address the opportunities that arise in education matters.

Marco noted the importance of studying how to improve teaching practice, address the challenge of socio-emotional skills, where we find the strategies to address the problem of learning from the different areas that make up academic training, and analyze the consequences of the omissions that have been made in education matters for the future of our teachers and students.

Patricia Ganem Alarcon, PhD in Assesing, Diagnosis and Evaluation of Educational Intervention from the Anahuac University, spoke about “Social-Emotional Skills and Competencies”, where she pointed out that all learning, all thinking, all motivation, begins with an emotion, so it is of the greatest importance when a girl or boy gets excited, surprised, when they question, they form a group of socio-emotional skills.

He added that, in the classrooms, the first thing you have to do as a teacher is to generate surprise, motivation, and research, since that is where learning begins.

At the Leon headquarters, education authorities agreed on the importance of providing teachers with the necessary tools and working collaboratively to find spaces for reflection and sharing experiences.

“In this era where technology is a fundamental part of education, it is essential to rethink the way we teach and take advantage of technological tools to promote learning,” they agreed.

The representative of the World Bank, Igor Kheyfets, thanked being a strategic ally in education change in Guanajuato, sharing successful experiences worldwide.

Adolfo Rodríguez Guerrero, representative of UNESCO, recognized the educational advance that the state of Guanajuato has achieved, highlighting the importance of these forums to recognize education practices and examples.

The closing of the Forum in the León region was attended by Vitor Amorim de Angelo, Head of the Education Secretary of the State of Espirito Santo in Brazil. During his presentation titled “The future of learning, teaching and new technologies”, he shared his approach to contemporary education policy in Brazil and the results of his research. Angelo noted that some researchers argue that digital technologies and artificial intelligence can transform the way we learn and teach, allowing for greater personalization and access to education resources.

However, he warned of the need to be cautious about possible negative effects, such as the digital divide or over-reliance on technology.

This Forum is an opportunity to reflect on our progress, review strategies and find new solutions that promote quality education for all.
