“Today we have a date with destiny, with the change and the impact it will have on people’s needs”, said Alan Sahir Marquez Becerra, General Coordinator of Social Communication of Guanajuato, as he presented the GTO 2050 Digital Agenda: Co-Responsible Vision with the Future, and at the launching of the State Connectivity Network.
The Network will provide free internet service in schools, health units, public spaces, government offices and Guanajuato Contigo Si Centers, among others.
“This strategic plan seeks to position Guanajuato as a leader in digitalization, innovation and digital technological development in Mexico,” said the Coordinator.
Representing Diego Sinhue Rodríguez Vallejo the Governor of Guanajuato, Alan Márquez, said that Mindfacture is not a speech, and today it is materialized with public policies and actions that consolidate the intention of bringing Guanajuato to the technological forefront, in an effort of collaboration between the public sector, industry and civil society.
Marquez said that the GTO 2050 Digital Agenda is based on three axes of action:
- Digital Access
- Digital Wellbeing
- Digital Competitiveness
Digital connectivity throughout Guanajuato is real, making possible:
- The availability of digital services for citizens
- Online training and practice
- The promotion of scientific and technological research in strategic sectors
The GTO Network will provide free internet service in:
- Schools, health units, government offices, Guanajuato Contigo Si Centers, parks, sports and public squares, among other spaces
In the first stage of the Red GTO project, said Marquez, 1,120 sites will be provided with digital services, these sites are distributed in the municipalities of:
- Leon, Silao, Guanajuato, Irapuato, Celaya and Salamanca
The service will be offered in 784 education spaces, which represents 70% of the total sites to be connected.
The GTO Network will bring free internet, in 4 stages, to 9,800 sites in the 46 municipalities, through fiber optics, microwaves and satellite technology.
Regarding the GTO 2050 Digital Agenda, Alan Marquez said that the vision focuses on 10 points that will occur over time and refers to:
- Universal Connectivity
- Greater Access to Online Services
- Development of Digital Skills
- Promotion of Innovation
- Economic Growth
- Government Efficiency
- Sustainable development
- Improvement in the Quality of Life
- Attraction of Investments and Talent

“This vision that was discussed for the year 2050 is ambitious, but it is also possible to turn Guanajuato into a benchmark in the use of digital technology; we have infrastructure, public policies, a guide for action and we have participation of the population”, said Alan Sahir Marquez.
