When closing the First Course for Strengthening Women’s Leadership in Police Institutions, the head of the Executive Secretary of the State Public Security System, Sophia Huett Lopez, noted that this course is an accelerator of female commanders in police institutions.

“Today we know that many of the participants have are able to be police directors, to be heads of analysis areas and coordinators of the tourist police, and other areas, and today they are finding their internal strength to achieve their goals”, said Huett Lopez.
It is a very important day for public security and also for women, Secretary Sophia Huett stressed, “I am clear that when a woman enters security, when it is only one as is often the case, the woman is the one who changes, but If there are several women who go into security, it is security that changes, and in Mexico there is an urgent need for a vision that combines the vision of both genders, to provide comprehensive solutions for citizens and that allows breaking paradigms”.
During the 7 months of the course, said Huett, “we experienced a process of landing and transformation, as we allowed ourselves to be more in touch with our own emotions, to consider more than objectives, goals, to understand how far we want to go and more than anything today you are women who know how to work as a team”.
The course was made up of materials, topics and methodology applied in the best leadership schools in the world, such as the INSEAD European Business School and Harvard University; as well as the support of the State Governor, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, to undertake this unprecedented effort, which is unique in Mexico and in Latin America, since there is no similar exercise with high quality of content and speakers.
Finally, Huett thanked the Mayors for the support provided and the accompaniment to their police officers; to the rector Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino and the University of Guanajuato for providing the facilities and equipment for the course to be held; and to the Secretaries and heads of Public Security of the participating Municipalities.
The course for Strengthening Women’s Leadership in Police Institutions began on March 27, and participating were 32 police women.
The participating women were from the municipalities of:
- Dolores Hidalgo, San Jose Iturbide, Irapuato, Guanajuato, Apaseo el Alto, Apaseo el Grande, San Francisco del Rincon, Celaya, Penjamo, Silao, Leon and Salvatierra
