Guanajuato invites all to sing to Jose Alfredo

This 2023, thousands of fans will celebrate the 14th edition of the Jose Alfredo Jimenez International Festival, commemorating the 50th Anniversary of Death

From November 22 to 26, more than 50 artistic and cultural activities will be enjoyed in Dolores Hidalgo CIN

Jose Alfredo Jimenez, one of the most sung and beloved composers, will be honored by artists such as Natalia Jimenez, Ana Barbara, Leon de Marco, Eugenia Leon, Guadalupe Pineda, Tania Libertad, Olivia Gorra, Sindy Gutierrez, Paax Kaay, and the group Sonora Dinamita.

Jimenez, born in Dolores Hidalgo CIN, earned the affection of Mexicans thanks to his innate talent, his creativity and his musical interpretation. Every year, fans from different States gather in his hometown to sing the famous songs of “El Rey”, who died on November 23, 1973 in Mexico City.

For 13 years, in the Magical Town of Dolores Hidalgo, a great party has been held in honor of the composer of songs like: Don’t threaten me, I woke up in your arms, Dear Dove, Paths of Guanajuato, White Horse and A Rare World, just to name a few of his hits.

In 2023, thousands of attendees will celebrate the 14th edition of the Jose Alfredo Jimenez International Festival, from November 23 to 26, commemorating the 50th Anniversary of Death of Jimenez, a large-format event in the State organized by the Government of Guanajuato, through the Ministry of Tourism, and in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture of the Government of Mexico.

At the Palacio de Bellas Artes in CDMX, Juan Jose Alvarez Brunel, Secretary of Tourism of Guanajuato, in the presence of the Governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, presented the program of the festival that includes more than 50 artistic and cultural activities ranging from serenades in the Mausoleum, dance and ballet activities, short films, and conferences.

“Dolores Hidalgo is not only the Cradle of Independence but also the cradle of great characters who have marked history and who have left a very important legacy in Mexico; we, the Guanajuatenses, recognize with great pride the trajectory of El Rey”, said Álvarez Brunel.

Jose Alfredo Jimenez knew how to capture in his songs the feeling of Guanajuato and the whole country, and today his melodies continue to be valid in “our national identity. As Mexicans we identify with his lyrics because he knew how to put his heart into words. Thank you for all the endearing affection you have put into the tributes dedicated to commemorating the memory of my father, a living memory that we keep in mind”, thanked Paloma Jimenez, daughter of the singer-songwriter.
