“The Guanajuato footwear industry is one of our greatest pride. It remains a pillar of the manufacturing sector, since it is essential for State economic development”, said Governor, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, as he led the opening ceremony of the 89th Edition of Sapica.
The Government of Guanajuato has supported this sector, between 2018 and 2023, with 137.6 million pesos to boost competitiveness in 2,789 economic units.
The Leather and Footwear Show –Sapica- is consolidated as the most important footwear and leather goods exhibit in Latin America and is the maximum commercial showcase of the Mexican Leather and Footwear Industry; its goal is to generate a business space that promotes the development of this sector and Guanajuato families.
“This fair is today the main showcase for the production of the Guanajuato and national shoe industry; and has transcended to form part of the local identity”, said Rodriguez Vallejo.
“SAPICA has already earned a place in the sector’s annual business agenda at an international level. And it has become a very productive space for business meetings, the promotion of talent and the generation of growth opportunities for this sector”, said the Governor.
SAPICA 89th Edition:
- 400 exhibitors
- More than 380 companies
- 2,000 brands distributed
- In 9 pavilions
- More than 2,600 buyers
- From 16 countries is expected
- The goal is to exceed 410 million pesos generated in sales in the 88th edition
The State Government has supported Sapica, between 2018 and 2023, with 39.5 million pesos for the benefit of 901 economic units. Only in 2023 it was 9.5 million pesos for the benefit of 164 companies.
The Autumn Winter 2023 Edition was held from March 7 to 9, 2023, at Poliforum Leon and the Spring Summer edition is held in August from the 22nd to the 24th.
On this occasion, Sapica awarded the Best Retailer and Best Sales Agent awards to LGC Moda and Zeferino Escalante Perez, respectively.
Present at this ceremony were Ramon Alfaro Gomez, Secretary of Sustainable Economic Development; Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, Secretary of Social and Human Development and Alejandra Gutierrez Campos, Mayor of Leon.
