Nine wine houses and the Guanajuato Wine Museum celebrated the 2nd. Wine Festival in Dolores Hidalgo, Cradle of National Independence, and delighted 4,000 attendees with various labels.
Last weekend, in the main square of Dolores Hidalgo, the Secretary of Tourism of the State of Guanajuato in synergy with the Municipal Government of Dolores Hidalgo CIN inaugurated this festival that is part of the “Vendimias Guanajuato” -events that mark the beginning of the celebrations of the grape harvest to start the wine production process.
The participating producers are:
- Tres Raices, Vina del Gran Padre, Cavas Manchon, Vinedos Azteca, Vinedos Arcangeles, Santisima Trinidad, Vid Elena, Cuna de Tierra and San Bernardino
All of them made the residents of Dolores and visitors live great stories, offering them tasting and pairing experiences and explaining the history of wine in Guanajuato.
“The integration that tourism has, led by the wine issue, fills us with pride. Wine in Guanajuato goes back 500 years when the priest Miguel Hidalgo began raising vines, olive trees and silkworms in Dolores Hidalgo. Let us remember that the priests or the priestly orders had the slogan of teaching the people to create a way to survive”, explained Secretary Juan Jose Alvarez.
Later in Spain, said Alvarez, “they made the decision to uproot all the vines and they removed almost all the vines in the country except in Parras, which today is the oldest vineyard in Latin America. Until just 20 years ago, Guanajuato enthusiastically resumed the theme of viticulture and today we are the 4th. wine producer in the country, we have 43 vineyards in production -21 of them offer a wine tourism product, a Grape and Wine Association, and a Law for the Promotion of Vitivinicola Activity”.
After narrating the story, Alvarez Brunel reaffirmed that the Cradle of Wine is Dolores Hidalgo CIN, a reason for Dolores and Guanajuatenses to feel proud of their land.
In this edition, the objective of the City Council was fulfilled, to create roots in the inhabitants of the city. With this festival, which became a tourist product, we strengthen tourism by integrating producers and the entire value chain of traditional cuisine, ice cream makers, artisans, distilled and fermented products, and artists in one place for families to enjo”, said Adrian Hernandez Alejandri, Mayor of Dolores Hidalgo.
This event was improved with a concert -of the 10 that will be presented in the State- of “The Rock Revolution 2023, Tour of Guanajuato”, which completes the celebrations for the commemoration of the 200 years of the Constitution of Guanajuato as a Free and Sovereign state.
