The scene of the ceremony was the atrium of the Parroquia de Nuestra Senora de los Dolores, where 212 years ago the priest Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla called on the people of Dolores to rise up against oppression and claim the rights of freedom, justice and equality for the Mexicans.

From the Casa de Visitas the entourage left for the house where the Father of the Nation resided, today the Casa de Hidalgo Historical Museum, to make an honor guard; the Governor of Guanajuato and the Undersecretary of Democratic Development, Social Participation and Religious Affairs of the Ministry of the Interior, Cesar Yanez Centeno, signed the book of Distinguished Visitors.

The Governor received the National Flag from the hands of the Museum administrator, Jose Luis Hernandez Juarez, to move it through Morelos and Hidalgo streets, the main square and to the atrium of the Church, with representatives of the Armed Forces, as well as the Legislative and Judicial Powers.

The Governor paid tribute to the beginning of the independence movement 212 years ago and evoked the call of the Father of the Nation to the people of Dolores to take up arms, on that early morning of September 16, 1810.

With the traditional call, the Governor recalled those who gave us homeland and freedom:

“Mexicans: Long live the heroes who gave us Homeland and Freedom! Long live Hidalgo! Long live Morelos! Long live Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez! Long live Allende! Long live Aldama!

“Long live the National Independence! Long live Mexico! Long live Mexico! Long live Mexico!”

The entourage went to the old prison, today the Museum of Independence, where the Governor repeated the action of Don Miguel Hidalgo by freeing the prisoners to join the libertarian movement.
