With the aim of strengthening skills development and job training, the State Institute of Training (IECA), led by its general director, Salomon Ceballos Ochoa, and the municipal president of Irapuato, Lorena Alfaro, held a ceremony to hand over certificates to 400 people who completed various workshops and training courses in areas such as massage therapy, balloon decorating, basic carpentry, professional makeup, baking, and wheelchair maintenance.

Among the beneficiaries are:

  • Single mothers, people with disabilities, and senior citizens from various neighborhoods and communities in the municipality, who now have new tools to improve their family economy

These actions are part of the “Employment for All” program, through which the Municipal Government of Irapuato and the IECA work in a coordinated manner to strengthen skills that allow participants to generate income, start businesses and support their families.

Salomon Ceballos Ochoa highlighted the Municipal Government’s commitment to the training, noting that Irapuato is one of the municipalities that most promotes job training, in addition to recognizing the effort of women and men from communities and neighborhoods of the municipality who decided to invest their time in strengthening their skills.

The head of IECA emphasized that, in many cases, a workshop or course represents the starting point for accessing better job opportunities. “At IECA, we believe that training is sowing the seeds of entrepreneurship, self-sufficiency, and development opportunities for families and communities,” he said.

Ceballos said that this work is part of the vision of Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, who “has asked us to promote an open-door policy, bringing learning and training tools closer so that more Guanajuatenses can access better opportunities for employment, professional development, and self-employment”.

Mayor of Irapuato, Lorena Alfaro Garcia emphasized that the Municipality works across departments to bring training to every neighborhood and community through the IECA.

“For us as a municipality, what is most important is to provide the tools to get ahead in life. Simply holding out our hands isn’t what will get us ahead; of course, support is important, but what will truly allow us to move forward is having job opportunities, starting our own businesses, and generating our own income. This new knowledge will give us the freedom to make our own decisions and not depend on anyone,” said the Mayor.
